About
Welcome to Gardenstalking! You might be wondering what this site is all about, so allow me to explain. GardenStalking is a sister site to DessertStalking, my food porn site which draws over 10,000 visitors each week. Having a similar site related to gardening was a sudden inspiration, and one I believe people will enjoy. There is an increasing interest in gardening as people care more about the food they eat, the environment they live in and the joy that comes from nurturing growing things.
You are probably aware that one of the hottest topics on the internet is food. I believe a part of that trend is fueled by aggregation sites similar to this one. They don’t call it “food porn” for nothing. In a discussion about this project with a garden blogging friend, she said, “Food is sexy. I wish people saw gardening as being sexy.” Her comment has had me thinking ever since – darn it all, gardening IS sexy! Gardeners are passionate. They care about what they are doing. They provide pleasure, beauty, and increased health. They get exercise, and increase their physical fitness. They grow delicious and beautiful things for people that they love. They make the earth a better place. That, my friends is some sexy stuff, and I hope you will get as excited as I am about bringing all aspects of gardening to a wider audience.
But even more than being sexy, gardening is important. We need to get more people interested in gardening. It’s a big world out there, with lots of stressful stuff going on. Gardening is about connection – to the land we live on, the food we eat, and the people we are feeding. It’s about making our surroundings more beautiful, and creating places where we can find peace and relief from a world that is often anything but peaceful. If you agree, I hope you will join the site and send me some submissions, so we can get this project off the ground!
The site works in the same way other aggregation sites do – contributors submit a photo that will link back to content on their site. All photos are moderated, then the ones that are accepted will appear on the site. Then visitors click to come to your site to read the full article. There is more information for contributors under the FAQs and Submission guidelines, so be sure to check those out.
